Charitable, human rights, and cultural organizations of the Afghan diaspora in the UK emphasized greater coordination during a meeting
According to a report by the ADFP News Section on Thursday, September 12, 2024, a group of Afghan charitable, human rights, and cultural organizations based in the UK gathered in London to stress the importance of enhancing coordination and capacity. They discussed establishing a shared vision to provide human rights and cultural services to the Afghan people, particularly women and girls.
The meeting, hosted by Asad Sikandar, a film industry activist, and Mr Emtiaz Sharifi, a cultural and social activist, led to a consensus that they should unify their perspectives and share their experiences. This, they agreed, would help them deliver their social, human rights, and cultural services more effectively through a joint strategy.
Notably, ADFP Director Hafizah Nadi Anthony Addis attended the meeting and welcomed the alignment of nonprofit organizations, calling it a crucial response to the challenges facing Afghanistan. She also emphasized the importance of continuing these meetings and described the creation of a common platform for delivering services, particularly to Afghan women and girls, as a fundamental need in the current circumstances. It was decided that these meetings would continue, with a shared vision guiding their efforts.
The meeting lasted for two hours and concluded on a warm and positive note, with participants agreeing to develop a unified approach for providing joint services.
